Our school is a private language institute which has been approved by the governor of Wakayama prefecture, something like the Berlitz school in the US. But the students at this school range in age from elementary school children to adults.About 200 students are enrolled and the lessons are mostly given individually. Working hours is long but is not so hard comparing the big group lessons. I think you will be able to save about two million yen for a year.

The teacher who works here must be a native English speaker, four year university graduate, nonsmoker, single, healthy, patient and kind to the students, and eager to work here for one year. She (He) has to be adaptable to the Asian style of life.

Wakayama is a city of 400,000 population, and it is about 40 miles south of Osaka. Our contract is almost the same as other English institutes in Japan. We are sure your living cost here is much less than that of big cities. Kyoto and Nara are one day trip distance and so you will be able to have worth while experiences in Japan.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

SincerelyC
Tadahiro Shima
Director

P.S. To be considered for selection, we need your resumeCtwo letters of recommendation, personal history and some different recent pictures of yourself. Pictures are most important to see what kind of personality the applicant has. We hope you will attach your photos.
(Notes) In case you are employed, passport size pictures (two quick photos with plain back), and the original transcript or the graduation certificate is neededD

Kansai Foreign Language Institute
CONTRACT
For full time teachers
1) The director of the Kansai Foreign Language Institute (hereafter referred as Director) pays a full time instructor employed at the institute (hereafter referred as Instructor) monthly payment of 300,000 yen if the following conditions are met.
a) Instructor works for Director for one full-month (from the first to the last day of each month). Classes for instruction are very small--usually between one to four students per class.
b) Instructor teaches at the schoolfs main location and a satellite location following the teaching schedule provided by Director. Working hours per week ranges between 25 and 35, but it could be more or less. Director arranges the classes and make-up lessons. Instructor is required to make up for studentsf missed lessons.
c) The number of lessons which is required of Instructor to teach is 200 or more (equivalent to 133.3 hours or more) per month. One lesson is 40 minutes long. If the number of lessons does not reach this figure due to Directorfs scheduling or lack of students, those hours are compensated for, and consequently the minimum salary of 300,000 yen is guaranteed. Studentsf missed lessons are counted towards working hours, but blank/waiting hours between classes and make-up lessons are not counted towards working hours.
d) Instructor is required to make her/himself available to teach during the school hours throughout six school days (from Monday to Saturday) except Holidays. The school hours are between 1:00 pm and 9:40 pm from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the school hours are between 1:00 pm and 7:00pm.
e) There is a possibility that Director may decide to reduce school days to five days a week, in which case, 250,000 yen will be paid monthly. However, when the number of instructing lessons exceed 166, additional payment will be made according to the number of lessons given. (1,500 yen per lesson)
f) Instructor will be asked to take on tasks relating to English language, such as proof-reading during the school hours, but the time engaged in these tasks will be counted towards working hours.
g) Instructor may be asked to visit other institutions or companies upon their requests.
*The teaching hours will be counted towards working hours.
**The schedule for these visits will be arranged between Director and institutions /companies.
Therefore, the teaching time will be not bound by the school hours.
2) The minimum salary of 300,000 yen is not guaranteed for the first month and the last month of employment since they can be shorter than a regular month. 1,500 yen will be paid for each forty-minute lesson (equivalent to 2,250 yen per hour). Blank/waiting hours are not included in this calculation.
3) When the number of instruction lessons exceed 200 (133.3 hours), 1,600 yen (if converted to hourly payment, 2,400 yen) is paid for each lesson in addition to 300,000 yen. Please note that this rate only applies to lessons above 201 lessons and not below 200 lessons. Instructor is paid 300,000 yen for the service of teaching 200 lessons per month, because the rate is fixed at 1,500 yen per lesson up to 200.
(200 lessons ~ 1,500 = 300,000 yen)
4) Instructor is not permitted to have any other teaching job other than with the Kansai Foreign Language Institute, even if it is free of charge.
5) Instructor agrees not to take other similar employment in Wakayama city for the period of one year after the completion of this contract or termination. Instructor also agrees to release any pictures taken at the institute for the purposes of advertisement of the institute.

The teaching hours missed because of holidays are not added to the total teaching hours. The same rule applies for Japanese statutory holidays. Instructor cannot expect to have more holidays than above-mentioned holidays. If there should be any unforeseeable or urgent circumstances, such as Instructorfs illness, where Instructor is unable to teach for a protracted period of time, the minimum monthly salary of 300,000 yen (in case of 5 working days = 250,000) is reconsidered for that month.
7) This employment contract is in effect for one year (may be few days less), depending on arrival date). If Instructor should decide to terminate this contract before its completion for a justifiable reason, the notification period is four months in advance. Instructor is expected to behave and dress in a professional manner. Male instructors are expected to wear ties in classrooms. Instructors may be dismissed for variety of reasons such as not meeting the institutefs expectations or standards.
8) An apartment (furnished) will be provided by Director. The key money is paid by Director. The rent will be about 40,000 (to 50,000) yen per month. In any situations, Instructor is responsible for their own food and bills (phone, electricity etc,).

10) There will be a bonus for those who fly from USA or Canada to Japan. 50,000.- will be paid at the completion of one year contract. Instructor is responsible for payment of any Japanese income taxes and other levies.
